Bioware: No *Current* Plans for Mass Effect Andromeda Launch on Switch

It could have been a match made in heaven; two long awaited products with ambiguous Spring release dates, intertwined in simultaneous launching majesty.

As it turns out though, according to a interview over on Stevivor from the middle of last month with Mass Effect Andromeda producer, Michael Gamble, it’s simply not happening in the case of Andromeda and Nintendo’s Switch.

The interview, which has sat pretty on the website for just over two weeks, was clearly of a conversation intended to be about the enhancements from original trilogy to Andromeda; however the conversation took a quick shift to the current, revisionist generation before moving onto the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

As both the PS Pro, and the Scorpio (as well as the systems that launch after those) are iterative, developers will be able to release upgrades to their games, or whittle down elements of the systems in order to make the games run on older system iterations. On the subject of Microsoft’s 2017 Scorpio however, the developer stated “For Scorpio, we have absolutely no plans right now,”

When the subject shifted to Nintendo’s Switch, he replied, “We’re not planning on it. If the Switch launches and everyone’s just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows.” — “We never want to close doors like that.”

Mass Effect Andromeda will be launching on PC, Xbox One & PS4 in Spring of 2017. More details are imminent, with Bioware showcasing at nVidea’s CES keynote.

Kudos: Destructoid, for the nudge.
