Windjammers 2 Demo — Frisby frenzy

With no major gaming events like E3 taking place this year, developers and platforms have taken it upon themselves to fill in the gap with their own events, with the Steam game festival being one such event.

From the 16th – 22nd of June, the festival showcased a whole host of games and live streams with hundreds of free demos for new and upcoming indie games, and thanks to moving home I was left without wifi for longer than d have liked. But in that time, I spent it playing through some of the demo’s and have made a collection of small articles with my thoughts on a few of them so feel free to check them out on B3!

With the first game releasing for the NeoGeo in 1994, Windjammers 2 takes competitive frisby to a whole new level.

Players will battle it out in fast-paced, strategic games as they try to score the most points in this hectic, easy to learn, but hard to master arcade-style game. With a variety of shots at the player’s disposal such as the lob shot, jumping shot, or the powerful EX moves, you’ll constantly be changing up your style and moves to get the upper hand.

The more I played, the more addictive it became, and after a few matches, I found it hard to walk away from it. Quick rounds and fast thinking makes every game feel like an intense exercise in strategy and will, and immediately after a match, I was rushing to get into the next game. All this is brought to life amazingly thanks to hand-drawn graphics that makes every dash, flashy technique, and crowd celebration beautifully details and lively, all with a soundtrack feels like it been directly ripped from the ’90s

It’s simple, it’s fun, and it’s addictive, and sometimes that’s all you need. With more characters and stages in the full game, Windjammers 2 looks to be a modern take on this NeoGeo classic; One I’m more than willing to jump into when it releases.

Windjammers 2 is currently listed as “coming soon”. You can check out their Twitter or Website for more details.
