What type of game is it?

City Building

What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?

You know how at the start of most city building games you get a massive loan to start the town with? Imagine you’re a few hours down the pipeline, most of the money is spent, you’ve racked up debts, and you’ve got to turn around the pockets of the city you’ve opted to control.

What do we like most about it?

The floating areas that make up the cities districts are really lovely to look at – the fact you can have a mass of them on the go at once is very impressive as well. The game has gone for small quality pockets that can be stacked up to massive quantities, rather than simply dumping you into a large deadspace and leaving you to it.

I’m also extremely impressed with the art style in general, while we’ve seen all sorts of low rez, low poly and other retro inspired art styles sky-rocket in popularity as the bar for making a game has lowered, there are styles that just fit certain game types perfect, and they’ve really nailed it here.

When’s it due?

Citalis is listed for release this year, when it launches it will do so on Windows PC.
